How we got here
A story shaped by inspiration, unexpected change and the businesses that chose to keep moving.
01In the beginning
Out Of Office was established as a freelance business while founder Tyrone was leading optimisation strategy at advertising agencies across South Africa and working with global brands. He felt it was time to apply his skill and expertise in a different way. It was an evolution of the journey, and so a new path was chosen. His entrepreneurial instinct shaped what came next.
02The unexpected
Tyrone left agency life to focus on Out Of Office full time and moved from Cape Town to Johannesburg. Two weeks after he arrived, lockdown was announced. The world fell quiet and businesses began closing their doors.
03The blessing in disguise
Many businesses put advertising on hold. Others felt the drive to keep going. Businesses that had relied on community support, markets and in-person trade suddenly needed to move online. This is where Out Of Office started to take shape.
04The silver lining
Tyrone helped businesses evolve their brands, move online and reach new audiences in ways they had not considered before. Today, many of those businesses are thriving and remain a driving force within their communities.
05The evolution
Out Of Office grew naturally through referrals and word of mouth. Before long, the business had developed a portfolio of clients and a trusted network of specialists, creating the strong foundations it operates from today.
06The cliffs and shifts
Nothing stays the same. Like every business, Out Of Office has faced challenges. Those challenges became learning experiences that shaped our strategic frameworks, our approach to developing and executing strategy, and how we work alongside our partners: staying close to the business, adapting together and keeping the work connected to what matters next.
07What’s next
As digital continues to evolve, so does Out Of Office. In the era of AI, that change is rapid. But we have been here before, and we know how it goes.
